This is a sample Cleanse Journal compiled from cleanse journals submitted by both customers and staff. We feel it is pretty typical of what a person can expect to experience while on a 28 day cleanse.
Cleanse Journal 2009
I heard about cleansing from a friend who has tried it and feels great because of it. She looks just radiant, and she says she feels incredible! It sounds a little odd, but I am willing to give it a try if I can look and feel like that!
The 28 day Cleanse I ordered has arrived. I am reading the Cleanse Guide that came with the kit and getting my grocery shopping list ready. I’m a bit nervous about starting, but I see there is a Cleanse Support line I can call if I need any help. I am relieved; because I am sure I will have questions. I have never done anything like this. What the heck is quinoa?
Week One: Mild Phase
Day 1: Trying to get the hang of the schedule– what to take when! My refrigerator has a shocking amount of fruits and vegetables in it. Its really kind of beautiful, all the colors. I got my juicer out and ready. I always forget how easy it really is to use! I see what they mean about drinking the shakes quickly!
Day 2: Bad headache today and I am a little constipated – so I called Cleanse Support. They said that both constipation and withdrawal from caffeine could cause headaches. They recommended I make sure to drink LOTS of water, at least 3-5 glasses of fresh organic veggie juice and/or vegetable mineral broth per day. They also said that taking an enema can help. They assured me that I will feel better soon and that most cleansing reactions are very short lived. I also read page 9 of the Cleanse Guide, Problems & Solutions and am taking one extra Chomper and Herbal Nutrition each time I take herbs. Also took an extra Flora Grow before bed.
Day 3: Made a big batch of the Alkalizing Vegetable Broth and found it strangely satisfying. I plan to make it every few days. I’m determined to eat only the foods on the Alkaline Forming foods list. My headache lessened and eventually went away today. I am really grateful.
Day 4: Avocados are my best friends. Organic coconut pineapple juice is delicious and filling. Soaked almonds in the blender with water and a few drops of vanilla extract is an amazing and delicious substitute for milk. I found quinoa at the natural foods market. It’s tiny stuff! I might cook some up tomorrow; the directions look simple enough to prepare.
Day 5: I miss coffee!! I know I can get past this…I am going to cheat with one cup of green tea. At work it is intriguing how folks respond to my lunches. Some poke fun at all the veggies, others comment with envy about how beautiful and tasty my meal looks. Folks are curious about my cleansing. I made quinoa for dinner. It’s really a satisfying texture, delicious and easy to prepare. I put steamed veggies on top with some olive oil, fresh herbs and lemon. I can see a lot of potential with quinoa!
Day 6: Lunch with colleagues was tricky, most restaurants add salt to everything and I’m determined to have absolutely NO SALT! Stuck to salad but picked out the croutons and sneaked in my own dressing. I checked my pH with the Lemon pH test to see how I’m doing. Almost 8.0. Will drink extra juice, broth and take Alkalizer too! I want to be ready for the Gentle phase.
Day 7: Slight case of diarrhea, so I cut back on the Chomper today and am having a potato for dinner to slow the cleansing a little. I will continue strong electrolyte intake by drinking my juice and broth, and will take a little extra Flora Grow for a few days. It’s amazing how much better I feel after having juice or broth.
Week Two: Gentle Phase
Day 8: Goodbye to breakfast, but the shakes are so filling that I do not really miss it. I added a little juice to my shake, which made it easier to swallow. Felt hungry mid-morning, so had a snack about 20 minutes after my 8:00 herbs. I am treating myself to new and unusual fruits. Blood oranges and tangelos… add a fresh lemon for your own tangy rocking homemade OJ!
Day 9: Fresh corn on the cob is awesome raw! How silly to heat it.
Day 10: Headache again, and a little lightheaded. I took some Alkalizer to boost my electrolytes and drank extra vegetable mineral broth. Later I made fresh lemonade with honey, which was yummy. I also drank about a gallon of water today, which made my head feel better!
Day 11: Really hungry today, nothing seems to fill me up. Cleanse Support said I can snack about 20 minutes before or after the herbs, whenever I’m genuinely hungry. Have to go for another potato, but trying not to have too many of those. I’m really beginning to like olive oil instead of butter on my potato. I’m still in love with avocados. Forget the sour cream; avocado is fantastic on baked potato!
Day 12: Made a giant pot of veggie soup. I had never tried kale before, but tossed some in the soup, pretty tasty. I’m getting to know the guy at the farmer’s market pretty well. Its kind of fun!
Day 13:
Reading about how routinely pesticides are applied to conventionally grown vegetables makes me so glad I am shopping for organic vegetables! After learning about how organic farmers build their soils and produce mineral rich veggies, I think I will stick with organic foods after I am done with the cleanse! Tried some heirloom tomatoes today, they are such a visual delight and so yummy!
Day 14: My last dinner for a while, steamed sweet potatoes and broccoli. I thought I’d mention I had 5 good-sized BMs today. Cleanse Support said to make sure I’m having 3-5 each day. I feel like I am doing really well with this! My pH is testing alkaline. I’m ready for the next step!
Week Three: Power Phase
Day 15: Getting serious now, shakes and herbs all day with just the lunch break. I’m grateful to not be as hungry as I thought I might be. I was wondering when I’d see mucoid plaque? I re-read the Mucoid Plaque info in the Guide. I understand it can be subtle at times. The shapes will be more defined, shiny and it doesn’t break-up like “Bentonite & Psyllium” stools do.
Day 16: Salad with jicama – that’s a crunchy surprise, a little like water chestnut crossed with an apple. Nice to meet you, Mr. Jicama! I tried adding a little dried mustard powder and maple syrup to my oil and apple cider vinegar dressing. It’s a nice change.
Day 17: Had to cheat again with a cup of green tea. Made it a weak tea, but stretched all the life I could out of that teabag. I think what really helped my energy though was the Alkalizing Vegetable broth. Sometimes I just forget about it, but it is really a boost.
Day 18: Don’t tell anyone, but I had an apricot for desert after my shake, delicious and very satisfying. I waited about 45 minutes after the shake though like a good cleanser.
Day 19: OMIGOD, what was that in the toilet!!! EEEeeeeww! Yay! That was not subtle! It had a stronger smell too. I do not know if it is all in my head, but before the plaque passed I felt unexpectedly emotional, then I felt clearly lighter afterwards… like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I called Cleanse Support to report my success, and to ask about the emotional aspect. They said this is common. I’m ready…let’s get rid of that emotional garbage too.
Day 20: Now I am really inspired and want to dump more junk! Come on Chomper! I recall when I spoke with Cleanse Support yesterday that they said a big key to plaque moving out is in staying away from salt, and keeping my electrolytes high throughout the Cleanse. I’ll make sure to remember the alkalizing vegetable broth.
Day 21: Having some food cravings today, adding in a little more fruit juice, but otherwise am being strict. I checked my pH today with the Lemon pH test to make sure my body was ready for the Master Phase and I passed with flying colors; an 8.0 dark greenish purple on the strip. I passed plaque with each stool today. I am so ready for the master phase!
Week Four: Master Phase
Day 22: Starting the Master Phase! I do feel really clearheaded, no more waking up in a fog feeling tired. Having gotten this far I want to stick with it. I’m drinking a quart of broth today and a huge carrot celery juice. Passed more plaque today. I felt emotional today out of the blue, and remembered that cleansing old negative emotions is common as plaque is released. I love the affirmation of the plaque and emotions moving!
Day 23: That hamburger joint smelled absolutely horrid to me when I drove past. Funny how our perceptions change. Some of the mucoid plaque, I released had really nasty smells too. I will do my best to stay away from the fast food lines from now on!
Day 24: Meditations have been incredibly deep. My energy field feels really jazzed, but in a calm way. Plaque and more plaque. I’m making sure to have lots of vegetable juice, water and broth so I remain grounded.
Day 25: Thinking about real food again. After seeing some of the results of this cleanse though, I can sure wait another week or so. I have never paid such close attention to how food makes you feel. I’m feeling really good. My body is happy! I had not really realized how unhappy it had felt. This is an awakening! I keep having new recipes dancing through my head.
Day 27: Mucoid plaque has been getting paler in color, a good sign, and no odors now. Progress has definitely been made. Folks at work are now REALLY curious about this cleanse. They are seeing the difference in me. Maybe next time (did I say next time!) someone will cleanse with me.
Day 28: Nearly there! I love the way my clothes are fitting and that my favorite old jeans are in use again! My eyes are looking brighter and whiter! And I have a skip to my step. Hey, anyone want to go for a bike ride? Wait, its midnight…I don’t think I’ll find any takers.
Day 29: I DID IT! What a feeling of accomplishment! What a difference in energy level. My skin feels so soft. My friends say my eyes are sparkly clear. My sense of smell and taste seems keener. I’m still removing some mucoid plaque. I have got to remember how this feels so I can continue to take care of myself from this point forward.
Post Cleanse:
Day 30: Broke my fast with mango and papaya – so delicious! Starting back to real food is like going back to the mild phase again for a week. I will stick to the diet to assure that I remove from my body all the plaque, that I’ve loosened. I certainly have a new appreciation for foods. I may have the occasional veggie pizza but I have lost my cravings for sugar and would be glad to keep it that way.
Thank You Rich Anderson and Arise & Shine!!
