Toni Toney has been an environmental activist, researcher and organic-food activist for over 25 years, teaching and speaking to audiences around the world. After almost dying from an acute illness that left chronic reminders, she gained a passion for "clean eating" and "green living" which led her on a personal healing path and eventually to public teaching and writing.
She traveled the world visiting and studying from some of the most renowned alternative physicians and healing centers of our time. One such center was the Paracelsus Clinic in Lustmuhle, Switzerland, headed by the clinic’s medical director, Thomas Rau, MD, where Toni spent a month. The establishment defines itself as a clinic of natural healing to treat chronic health problems that do not respond to conventional treatments.
In 1988, Toni started a non-profit foundation called Organic Food For Life with the goal of educating local farmers about the importance of organic growing versus conventional growing.
In 1991, she started an organic salad/juice bar restaurant called VegiTable. It became a giant hit. She was written up in Vegetarian Times several times and the response for franchises was overwhelming. Her intention was to have a healthy fast-food restaurant on every corner across the nation. She was on a crusade to change the way Americans were eating and joined hands with others who were driven by the same passion.
During that time, she sponsored a number of big names in the alternative health field. For example, she sponsored a talk by Neal D. Barnard, MD, author of The Power of Your Plate, and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
From 1994 to 1999, Toni taught hundreds of organic, raw-food classes that evolved into a Natural-Food Cooking School in Los Angeles, California. During that time she became a certified herbalist and studied the power of medicinal and culinary herbs to heal both the mind and body. She later became a nutritionist and now holds a master’s degree in nutritional science. However, she calls herself an Internal Environmentalist, one who studies the body's internal environment.
For the last 12 years, Toni has been working on an oeuvre of books on diet and lifestyle, poetry, and topics of a mystical nature. She has lived at times on the Greek island of Patmos and plans to return for the third time late in 2012 to move into visionary experiences and writing again. She is the newly published author of EcoDiet, with EcoDiet Detox and EcoDiet4Kids soon to come.
